Witness the diversity of animation with music videos from the UK and beyond.
Animation is in a state of expansive flux; from a CGI character of Emiliana Torrini to Shynola's 3D old-school wire-frame work for Beck's E-Pro, to Michel Gondry and Lauri Faggioni's stop-motion and cut-out work for Devendra Banhart's Ribbon. It's not just the old guard represented here, newcomers SSSR provide a dark setting for Subtle's Swan Meat and 19-year-old David O' Reilly harnesses the elements in his debut video for electronic artists Venetian Snares. Diamond Dogs' foray into animation proves the 'paperless office' is a prediction far from being realised while Thomas Hicks, (one winner in this year's Warp/Creative Review Film Competition) features with his Gravenhurst video I Turn My Face to the Forest.
It seems with video budgets becoming ever lower and technology more affordable, animated videos are on the rise - as is plainly evident in this amazing collection from a field where the work is being pushed, pulled and twisted with the newest and oldest tools available to filmmakers.
